Marilyn Simandle

"Perfection is the enemy of great art." --Marilyn Simandle
Marilyn Simandle started painting at age 6. Even at that age, she knew she would become an artist. She learned mostly from her mother who excelled in music and art, but later received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from San Jose University. After receiving her degree, Simandle went on to share her talent and knowledge by teaching art and conducting workshops throughout California. Marilyn resides in the Santa Ynez Valley with her husband, Ted Goerschner, also an artist, where she enjoys painting, gardening, playing bridge, and horseback riding.
Simandle tries to convey her own personal philosophy of art in her paintings. She loves to explore the interplay of light and its effects on architecture and surroundings. In her paintings, she tries to have the painting "finished" in the viewer's mind. Marilyn is inspired and influenced by John Singer Sargent and Joaquin Sorolla.
